Works in Progress (free) 03:39
Works in Progress Where am I today? Was I here six months ago? I was here last year for sure. I love the way I got there. Look at my hand raised to reply to your question. The answers come from hours spent eating alone. My ideas emerge after month long grace periods. I come out of hibernation and sing. Someday I'll be just like you and you'll be just like me. A bing bang dinga dong will be the newest creed. I'll write letters everyday so you can learn to read. You could eat the fattest duck and plant the tallest tree. There would be a photo of us on the mantle sipping coffee on a bench being sentimental. Give me just a little more time. You know I'm always late. When are you going to be free? I love you when you're angry. I am from a free nation of oneness under God where everyone wants to go far and belief sings hope and hope goes far forever in our dreams but rarely in our lives. Today I road my bike through a heat wave. Six months ago the world was taking all we gave. Last year was so cleanly clear. I love the way I got there.

Olde City (free) 03:31
Olde City Where once the mighty river brought people to the land a new strength overshadows it with pulleys, gears, and man. Men take lunch on a steel beam above clanging construction, a race to reach the top of the sky. Below two men embrace behind the oldest oak on the darkest path in the reddest light. Mothers wake with the sunrise to six am spinning classes perfecting a tightly upholstered morning. A thespian club lines a cafe hallway, across the street dirty water absorbs a wisp of cotton. The sound of frying pans, the aroma of diabetes echo a block west. Brutal cells for acting apprentices stand where the stables once stood. Establishments for embellishments and tchatchkas for changes are on either side of the seasonally dense street. Loud honks ten times more annoying than a lazy boss causes the frail woman to quiver in the freezing theatre. A pitter patter of petit feet comes from the nursery school. There is nuance in the police woman's voice as she orders a sandwich from the deli. There is simple solitude in both directions but to get there you must pass bums and bummed out adolescents. There is joy as the girl leaves the sticky city and rolls down her window. She sees the river that deliriously unzips her old mind and unbuttons her new one to feel the autumn breeze on her baked, tan skin.

about

The Something Society Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

At the beginning of summer 2008, two Philadelphia girls got together to make a band. But not just any band. Armed only with a piano and voice, this band would push the limits of pop music, taking influence from jazz, theater and classical styles. Our latest artistic ventures have included a dance experiment, 5 Ruminations, where we choreographed and composed a piece in less than two months with $0 ... more
